Clinical or Forensic Psychologist ? SM1 - Psychologist ...

Women?s Service ? Learning Disability Care Pathway (Low secure)

Ref: 1921

Hours: Full-time 37.5 per week, part time hours may be considered

The Women?s Service provides specialist care for adult psychiatric and learning disabled patients with challenging behaviours which preclude them from treatment in mainstream NHS settings.

Psychology is highly valued within the service and embedded within a multi-disciplinary approach. You will be fully involved in the development, delivery and evaluation of a range of therapeutic assessments and formulation-led psychological interventions which are broadly based on cognitive behavioural principles and in particular on relapse prevention work. Working within a positive and focused team that is committed to expanding its world-class service, you will be involved in a case-load of hands-on clinical work with service users.

We would like to recruit an experienced clinical or forensic psychologist who is interested in working with this complex and challenging population and has skill, and preferably experience, of working within a secure environment. Candidates with less than two years post qualifying experience who can demonstrate a commitment to developing their skills with this population will be considered for the post. The therapeutic orientation of the service is cognitive behavioural and psychology staff play a key role in service delivery; both in group and individual therapy. The Women?s Learning Disability Service has also recently secured funding to establish a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy programme within this pathway. It is anticipated that the appointed psychologist will receive DBT training and have a role in delivering this service.

To attract the right candidate we offer competitive salaries and conditions of service including excellent opportunities for continuing professional development. There will also be opportunities for joint professional work, and involvement in support, supervision and training, and we actively support innovation and research.
